Attempted robbery, battery lands man in state prison for nearly 3 years – Red Bluff Daily News

RED BLUFF – A man recently received nearly 3 years in state prison for crimes involving attempted robbery and assault.

According to the Tehama County District Attorney’s Office, Eric Alan Olson was similarly intoxicated while wandering around the Taco Bell. He approached a woman on a scooter and tried to grab her, but a passerby intervened. Olson then approached a woman in a car, kicked the door open and attempted to carjack her. She screamed and honked. Olson fled but was quickly apprehended. Both victims were able to positively identify Olson.

In a separate incident, the DA’s office said Olson attempted to shoplift when a member of the community intervened. This person caught Olson as he was trying to leave the store. They fell during the ensuing struggle, and the Good Samaritan’s ankle was broken.

Olson was convicted of two counts of attempted robbery and one misdemeanor count of battery. He received 2 years and 8 months in state prison.

The Red Bluff Police Department investigated these cases.
