Jury convicts Muncie man of 2022 triple homicide – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana traffic

MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) — A jury on Wednesday convicted a 30-year-old Muncie man of killing three members of the same family in July 2022, the Delaware County District Attorney says.

Devin X. Myers was convicted of killing 69-year-old Malcolm Perdue, 51-year-old Kyndra Skinner, and their 19-year-old grandson, Kyler Musick.

Another Muncie man, Daniel L. Jones, is scheduled for a jury trial in connection with the triple homicide. He faces two counts of murder.

Officers of the Muncie Police Department at approximately 4:50 am on July 13, 2022, were dispatched to a report of a burglary, robbery and a shooting at a home on South Liberty Street. The bodies of Perdue and Skinner were found with gunshot wounds near the back of the home, police reported.

Jones and Myers drove away from home in a stolen dark-colored GMC, according to police. Court documents say Myers told Jones he shot his friend in the face, wrapped his body in plastic and then disposed of the body with the help of his girlfriend.

Musick’s body was found on July 14, 2022, near a Muncie reservoir. Myers and Jones were arrested the same day.

In addition to the three murder convictions, the jury found Myers guilty of armed robbery; penal isolation; conspiracy to commit robbery with grievous bodily harm; and obstruction of justice.

A news release issued Wednesday by District Attorney Eric M. Hoffman said, “After the jury returned its verdicts, the defendant admitted that at the time of the crime he used a firearm that subjects Myers to an enhancement the sentence for the use of the firearm. . Myers also admitted to being a habitual offender because he had at least 2 prior felony convictions,” assault with a deadly weapon and armed robbery.

As a result, Myers could face sentencing enhancements for being a habitual offender and using firearms to commit crimes.

The prosecutor said in the statement: “Make no mistake about it – Devin Myers is a very dangerous predator. He brutally executed three people from the same family.”

Hoffman said he hopes Myers gets life in prison after his scheduled Dec. 20 sentencing.

Jones’ trial is scheduled to begin Nov. 18 in Delaware Circuit Court 5, where Myers was sentenced.
