Ball Out for Chicago, three others listed

CHICAGO – For the first time this year, the Orlando Magic embark on a multi-game road trip in the 2024-25 season, announcing a five-city road trip Wednesday night against the Chicago Bulls at the United Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00 PM ET.

The Magic are 3-1 on the young season, fresh off Paolo Banchero’s 50-point masterclass that helped push Orlando past the Pacers 119-115 on Monday night.

Chicago enters the contest 2-2 on the season, defeating the Memphis Grizzlies 126-123 on the road inside FedExForum on Monday night. Zach Lavine led the way with 30 points, and his trio of Coby White and former Magic center Nikola Vucevic combined for 72 of the Bulls’ points on the night.

Here’s the latest on the health and status of the players heading into Wednesday night’s tip-off.

Both Isaac and Bitadze missed the Magic’s Monday meeting with the Pacers inside the Kia Center. Isaac hasn’t appeared in a game since opening night in Miami, when he left the game in the fourth quarter after taking a hard spill on the floor and didn’t return to the game. Throughout the past week, Magic coach Jamahl Mosley said he’s making progress day by day and it was a game-time decision on Monday. Although he was ultimately ruled out of the contest, Isaac went through his pregame shooting range and was visible in the open shootaround periods.

Bitadze’s injury was a late addition to the injury report on the morning of Monday’s matchup with the Pacers. It was cleared as a left hamstring strain after initially being reported as left leg soreness, but Mosley said during his pre-match availability on Monday night that he would also try to ” give it a try”. He was a game-time decision before he was also sent off.

Of note, Franz Wagner and Tristan da Silva — who had each battled an illness before Monday’s game in Indiana — are not listed in the Magic report. Wagner left Monday night’s game with the same ailment he was questionable with heading into the night after just 11 minutes and missed the entire second half.

No roster spot for Wednesday night against the Bulls should mean the 6-10 fourth-year forward is ready to go. The same can be said for da Silva, who was available but did not appear in the Magic’s win over the Pacers on Monday.

Wednesday 12:15pm update: At halftime, Jamahl Mosley said Jonathan Isaac is “doing well” and is a game-time decision tonight. Goga Bitadze “probably won’t be able to go tonight,” Mosley said.

Update Wednesday at 6:15 PM ET: After missing the previous three games with a left hip contusion, Jonathan Isaac is available for Orlando vs. Chicago. When asked if he will be on a minutes restriction tonight, Mosley said the team will “continue to monitor him.” Losing three games was more about the “conditioning factor than anything else,” he said.

Goga Bitadze (left hamstring strain) has been demoted to out. He misses his second game in a row.

Lonzo Ball is on the injury report with a new designation. Ball was previously listed in reports as dealing with left knee surgery; he is only listed as questionable with right wrist soreness heading into Wednesday night. Jalen Smith is a new addition to the report with a sprained left ankle.

21:00 Tuesday Update: Ball was demoted to OUT after Ball was diagnosed with a sprained right wrist. He’ll miss at least 10 days, the Bulls say.

Update Wednesday at 6:15 PM ET: Bulls coach Billy Donovan said Jalen Smith (sprained left ankle) is available tonight against Chicago.
