Craven County men have been sentenced to prison on drug charges

GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT) — Two habitual criminals and a drug dealer have been sentenced to active time in Craven County Superior Court.

According to the press release, Juan Antonia Grimes and Robert Wayne Hardison II are habitual offenders. Grimes received a sentence of more than eight years to just 11 years in prison. Grimes was convicted of the following crimes:

  • two counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver cocaine

  • two counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver methamphetamine

  • a count of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver fentanyl

  • an accusation of assault on a woman

Robert Wayne Hardison II was convicted of trafficking in opioids by possession. Hardison was sentenced to more than seven years to just 10 years in prison. He is also ordered to pay a $50,000 fine.

Zachary Paul Koonce was convicted of one count of trafficking in fentanyl, one count of possession of methamphetamine and one count of possession of a Schedule II substance. Koonce received a 70-93 sentence and was ordered to pay more than $50,000 in fines.
