ECU Police Investigate Campus Dorm Rape

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) – Police at East Carolina University say they are investigating the rape of a student in a college dorm.

A campus alert says they were notified of the sexual assault last night around 11:30 p.m. The alert says the rape took place in Tyler Hall on September 30.

There was no explanation as to why a delay of almost a month was reported.

A crime report listed it as second-degree forcible rape and that it was an open investigation.

The alert says the university also received reports that the same person “inappropriately touched two different victims at off-campus parties earlier this month.”

ECU’s list of campus crimes also shows a second-degree forcible rape at Clement Hall that occurred late Monday afternoon. No campus alert has been issued for that crime, and it also remains an open investigation.
