Happy Halloween! Celebrate by spending a few minutes discovering Connections are responding for today, October 31st.

If you haven’t played it before, CONNECTIONS challenges you to sort a group of 16 words into four groups where all the words are well… connected. This connection could come from the fact that they share a similar meaning, are part of a place name, objects found in a kitchen, or anything really!

While this may sound easy, the connection groups each have a different level of difficulty – with Yellow being the easiest and Purple being the hardest. For this reason, train yourself today’s Connection answer it could be quite complicated. You might get one group right away, but another might be a mystery to you. Luckily, we’re here to help!

Originally developed during The New York Times’ annual games department, the beta version of Connections was released in June 2023. It has since become one of the most popular games The NYTimes offers, second only to Wordle. Although some connections have been made to BBC Only Connect programme

Hint for today’s Connections answer

Instead of going straight to the answer, let’s start with some clues for today’s Connections puzzle:

  • Yellow – Cute!
  • Verdant – Verbs.
  • Blue – Fantasist!
  • Violet – Only one word could follow.
  • Treasure belongs to Yellow, Bat belongs to Green and Diablo belongs to Blue.

Remember – Yellow is the easiest group to find, followed by Green and Blue, with purple being the hardest set of words to connect.

Without further ado, here is Connections’ answer for today:

Today’s connections were a bit tricky for me. I got yellow (after falling in love with the non-existent Halloween-themed category), but then got a little stuck. After a few guesses, I finally turned green, then blue, and then purple.

What to play after Connections?

The obvious answer to this question is Wordlebut, if you’ve already solved that today, then The New York Times offers other games as well. When it comes to word games, The NYTimes has it Mini crosswords, Spelling Bee, Letter box and highlightswhich is still in beta. If you like a break from words, then you can give it a try plates – a pattern matching game – or Sudoku.

Outside of The NYTimes, there is semantically – where you have to get to the secret word by guessing its meaning. Spelling doesn’t matter in Semantle, you have to pay attention to the numerical value your guesses have to trace your path to the answer. If, however, you prefer to stick with the Connections format, then it’s worth a visit Puzzgrid. Here you’ll find hundreds of Connections-style puzzles, but the twist is that you only have three minutes to solve them.
