Canyon Lake decline continues, boat ramp #18 to close Friday

AN ANTONIO – One by one, we watched Canyon Lake’s 23 boat ramps close to public access as the lake level continues to drop. As of today, Canyon Lake is just below 27 feet and an all-time low. Every day the lake drops, sets a new record low.

Officially on Friday (November 1st), boat ramp #18 will be closed to the public as the boat ramp now only has about 14 feet of ramp to work with, followed by a steep drop off at the end of the ramp. It is simply too dangerous to use at this time. Boat ramp no. 19 is open, but only to Canyon Lake Marina members at this time. Work continues to expand several public access ramps.

This October has been incredibly dry in our area and we are now almost 7 inches behind on precipitation. Coupled with the ongoing drought of 2020, the rainfall deficit is over 50 centimeters!

River flow on the Guadalupe River in Canyon Lake is very low. We will need sustained periods of rain to build a stronger flow. Over the next 7 days we should be able to see a general rainfall of .25″ to .75″+ in the area. In addition, temperatures will gradually cool, reducing evaporation rates.
