Louisiana breaks personal early voting record

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Louisiana broke its previous in-person early voting record set in 2020.

The Louisiana Secretary of State’s office announced a total of 849,784 voters cast their ballots early in person between Oct. 18-29, compared to 817,957 who did so in 2020.

In all, 960,561 Louisiana voters cast their ballots ahead of the Nov. 5 election, including returned absentee ballots.

Louisiana also broke the single-day record for in-person voting on the last day of early voting, with 103,456 Louisiana residents voting on Tuesday, October 29. The previous record was 99,004 on the last day of early voting in 2020.

Below is a list of early voting numbers from the Secretary of State’s Office as of Wednesday morning (October 30):

  • Ascension: 34,905
  • East Baton Rouge: 93,169
  • East Feliciana: 5,125
  • Iberville: 5,316
  • Pointe Coupee: 5,043
  • West Baton Rouge: 7,697
  • West Feliciana: 3,371
  • ACROSS THE STATE: 960,561

Officials have confirmed that the deadline to request an absentee ballot is Friday, Nov. 1 at 4:30 p.m., and the deadline to return an absentee ballot is Monday, Nov. 4 at 4:30 p.m.
