AG Announces New CME Hires | News from Guam

Dr. Keng-Chih “Kenny” Su has been hired to be Guam’s new Chief Medical Examiner.

Since the departure of former chief medical examiner Dr. Jeffrey Nine in April, the Commission for Post-Mortem Examinations has been searching for Nine’s replacement.

The search, according to a press release from the Attorney General’s Office, is now over, however, as the Post-Mortem Commission met on September 18 to approve a three-year employment contract for Su.

Su’s contract, which pays him $350,000 a year, was signed by Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero on Tuesday.

“We are very fortunate to have a CME as qualified as Dr. Su working for and with us,” the statement said.

“Dr. Su brings literally a wealth of experience and expertise as Guam’s new Chief Medical Examiner, having served in various forensic pathology roles in other states,” the statement added.

Most recently, Su served as CME for Collin County in McKinney, Texas and as a forensic pathologist for Sacramento County in California. He graduated with a Doctor of Medicine from China Medical University and a Master of Medical Sciences from Taipei Medical University in Taiwan.

Su’s resume was also attached to the release and stated that Su had conducted a total of 3,100 autopsies, was involved in 440 homicide cases and testified in court about 105 times until August 2024.

“The AG administration will work collaboratively and closely with Dr. Su to protect our collective interests arising from the medical services and information that our CME office will generate. Knowing how many people die under suspicious conditions, what substances and drugs may be inside them. organs, helping the AG’s office prove its criminal cases, and issuing reports are just a few of Dr. Su’s many benefits,” the AG’s statement said.
