An NYPD officer was struck by a vehicle during a traffic stop in Brooklyn on Tuesday night, prompting another officer to fire his weapon, according to police and sources.

The chaos unfolded when police spotted a 25-year-old man in a dark sedan driving recklessly at Sutter Avenue and Forbell Street in East New York around 9:30 p.m., the NYPD said.

Officers tried to pull over the vehicle and when the officers approached on foot, the driver accelerated, hitting one of them, police said.

That’s when one of the officers discharged his weapon — firing at least one shot, according to police sources.

No one was hit by the gunfire, the sources said.

The 25-year-old driver was arrested with charges pending, police say.
