And after going through a brutal first-half matchup with 2-seed Boiling Springs on their home turf, the Shamrocks hung in as smart as ever the rest of the way.

Emma Kostelac-Lauer and Mia Scherr scored goals, while Ashley Berkheimer recorded a layup to lead the No. 1 seed on Wednesday. 3, Trinity to a 3-0 shutout over the Bubblers in Wednesday’s D3 2A semifinals.

“Many doubts have arisen about this.” Kostelac-Lauer told PennLive. “A lot of people thought Boiling Springs had it in the bag, but I felt like we recently peaked this season. The school has been great with their support today as we have been delighted in the group chat. Total team effort tonight.”

The Rocks qualified for their 21st District 3 championship appearance.

The first half was a gauntlet as both teams warmed up to each other.

The Bubblers offense was explosive through Ella German who had some good looks at goal while Trinity’s defense led by Ella Totino, Emma Grace and Abby Stair held the fort.

The game was scoreless at the half, but something changed when the “Rocks” returned to the field.

Six minutes into the second half, Kostelac-Lauer snuck in a goal past several Boiling defenders to put Trinity on the board, 1-0 at 46:47.

Scherr then continued the momentum eight minutes later as his second scored to push the Rocks lead to 2-0 in the 54th minute.

The Bubblers rallied the rest of the way, but with them trying to find any form of life, the ‘Rocks put the nail in the coffin as Scherr would add another goal in the 79th minute to end Boiling Springs’ 2024 campaign.
