Neurologist Accused of Running ‘Pill Mill’ Faces 35 Charges, Relinquishes Medical License

TAYLOR, Mich. – A neurologist hit with 35 charges was in court as he surrendered his medical license.

Dr. Ram Garg, who is accused of leading what Taylor police called a nightmare pill factory that drew people from across Michigan and Ohio was in court Tuesday (Oct. 29).

Garg was released on a $100,000 personal bond.

He pleaded not guilty Tuesday afternoon to a scheme in which he wrote fake prescriptions for dangerous opioids and then allegedly fabricated fake medical bills to make millions of dollars.

People keep calling Local 4 with tips about what happened in his office.

This is the first time we see Garg in court and now officially accused.

Local 4 cameras were there when Taylor police raided Garg Taylor’s clinic in late September with stunning allegations that the doctor wrote fake prescriptions for narcotics, highly addictive opioids for thousands in Michigan and Ohio.

Taylor police said Garg’s clinic on Telegraph Road was known as the place where the doctor would write you prescriptions for painkillers whether you needed them or not, fueling addiction and all that comes with it.

Garg was hit with 35 counts of illegal prescribing, falsifying medical records and health care fraud.

The phone continued to ring at the Taylor Police Department with more information about the doctor and for people calling to thank the Taylor police.

A mother who has a child in addiction recovery spoke to us about the situation.

I also exposed that there is a bedroom in this clinic – not just a bed, a full bedroom, which a former employee called a recovery room.

Police are working on some allegations of sexual misconduct.
