AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Youngstown man is facing a number of charges after police chased him after a call to a home in Austintown.

Damon Williams, 36, is charged with assault on a police officer, a fifth-degree felony; burglary, second degree felony; possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony; obstructing official business, a fifth-degree felony, assault, a first-degree misdemeanor; and resisting arrest, a second-degree felony.

Officers were called around 12:10 a.m. Oct. 22 to a home on North Main Street where a woman said Williams had assaulted her and wanted him out of the home. When officers tried to get Williams to leave, he kept telling them he needed to get his things, but then followed the woman into a corner of the house where she was cornered, according to a report by the police.

The responding officer called her over, got between Williams and the woman and led Williams outside, where the officer said he did not comply with her requests and pushed her back, causing her to land on her back, dislodging the air out of her and injuring her hip, the report states.

Williams then took off and a pursuit ensued that involved other officers and scaled a fence before Williams was apprehended in the area of ​​North Edgehill Avenue, the report said.

Police said Williams continued to be combative while handcuffed and was hit twice with a stun gun.

Police found suspected drugs in Williams’ pocket before he vomited on the street and he was taken to the hospital to be checked out, according to the police report.

When officers were able to speak with the victim, she reported injuries to her face, finger and leg from Williams’ attack. She said she and Williams argued over money and car keys and that they physically fought over a pair of scissors that Williams threatened to use to cut her tires, so she injured her finger. Then, after she ordered Williams out of the house, he returned with an air conditioner out of the window and the argument continued. She said Williams punched her in the face and threw cold grease on him, which the children were cleaning up when police initially arrived on the scene, the report said.

Four officers reported injuries, including one who suffered a cut to his palm, another who had a cut to his wrist and one with debris on his legs. The officer who was pushed to the ground said he had pain and stiffness in his shoulder, hip and knee.

Williams was arraigned in Austintown Municipal Court last week. Bond was set at $20,000. He is due back in court on Wednesday.
