Woman wakes up to strange noise to find cat ‘practicing for his next gig’

A woman who was awakened by strange noises in her home never expected what she found when she went to investigate.

Many pet owners will have stories about their pet Waking and in the middle of the night — going outside, barking at something nearby, or knocking something over somewhere in the house.

But for TikTok user @teeerajay, the sounds were a little different: it sounded a lot like her cat started a band.

One viral video posted on her account on October 13, which has 190,000 likes and 2 million views, she can be seen crawling along a dark hallway in her home where a repeated noise is heard. The sound of drums.

She turns on the light to reveal her black cat, Rune, sitting on an electronic keyboard, having apparently activated it by climbing on it. As Rune notices her, he begins to move – and as he touches the keys, the drum sounds are combined with the piano.

“When you wake up in the middle of the night to a strange noise and find out your cat is practicing for his next concert,” she captioned the clip.

And in the clip, she told him: “You’re bloody talented bro.”

TikTok users loved it, with hundreds flocking to the video to comment, with many comparing Rune’s piano notes to the opening bars of My Chemical Romance’s “Welcome to the Black Parade.”

“When I was a young cat,” wrote one, belting out the opening lyrics to the hit song.

“I thought for sure he was about to play Black Parade,” said another, while one joked: “He was definitely going for a full performance of Black Parade and you cut him off.”

One commenter admitted to thinking “I’m going to see him play the drums”.

And one asked: “Does he do birthday parties?”

Gig
The Rune Cat was practicing her musical skills, waking her master in the process. TikTok users have insisted that his accidental song is very similar to a hit by rock band My Chemical Romance.

Although cats seem to misbehave at odd times, they are not, contrary to popular belief, nocturnal.

Rather, they are crepuscular, that is, they are most active around dawn and dusk. This comes from them the hunting instinctmaking them most active at the same time their prey would be on the move, according to Purina.

Cats have good night vision to help them hunt at dusk, and their crepuscular sleeping habits also explain why many cat owners are awakened at dawn by their pet demanding breakfast.

Both Rune and his owner’s other cat, Freyja, feature prominently on @teeerajay’s TikTok account. Pampered pets sleep, play and roam outside while safely harnessed on a leash.
