Romantic triangle leads to daylight shooting, woman’s death in Millville

A Vineland woman was shot in Millville in a daylight shooting involving an apparent romantic triangle, authorities said.

Bonnie Hitchens, 41, of Bridgeton, was attacked Saturday morning while sitting in a vehicle outside a convenience store and laundromat along East Green Street, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office. The 10:40 a.m. shooting also wounded a 32-year-old Millville man in the vehicle. He was reported in stable condition at an area hospital.

Two Vineland residents — Eric Bundy-Johnson and Francesca Delvalle, both 34 — are charged with murder.

They were in a vehicle that pulled up alongside the victims, and Delvalle was recorded yelling an allegation at Hitchens involving the father of Delvalle’s child, a probable cause statement said.

A masked man then exited Delvalle’s car, walked to the driver’s side of the suspects’ vehicle where Hitchens was sitting and fired four shots.

Delvalle also walked to the driver’s side of Hitchens’ vehicle and observed the shooting, the release said.

Surveillance video identified the car’s license plate, leading investigators to Delvalle on Sunday, Oct. 27.

Police: The suspects are talking

Delvalle identified Bundy-Johnson, the father of her child, as the shooter. Delvalle also claimed that he tried to talk him out of attacking Hitchens.

Bundy-Johnson, who turned himself in to police separately, said he “went crazy and shot (the victims) because of the feeling that people were constantly trying to fine him,” the statement said.

Bundy-Johnson and Delvalle, who have an address on Axtell Avenue, are charged with murder and conspiracy.

Bundy-Johnson is also charged with criminal attempt and weapons offenses. Delvalle faces additional charges of obstruction and tampering.

Allegations are just allegations. No one has been convicted in this case.
