Nokia ends video litigation with HP and signs patent licensing deal

By Dominic Chopping

Nokia has signed a multi-year patent license agreement with HP that allows the American computer and printer maker to use Nokia video technologies in its devices.

Nokia said a year ago that it had filed legal proceedings in the US against HP for unauthorized use of its patented video-related technologies, but the settlement announced on Tuesday ends all litigation between the companies.

Under the deal, HP will pay royalties to Nokia, the Finnish telecommunications equipment maker said. Financial terms were not disclosed.

HP was not immediately available for comment.

Nokia and Amazon.com remain in dispute over the use of video-related technologies, with the case due to be heard in the UK next year.
