Lizzo Responds to ‘South Park’ Cameo and Ozempic Allegations

  • Lizzo’s Halloween costume couldn’t be more relevant or timely.
  • The star dressed up as ‘Lizzo’, a fake weight loss drug recently featured in an episode of South Park.
  • The suit comes after South Park mocked her positive message and the singer was accused of taking Ozempic for weight loss.

Lizzo’s Halloween costume is more than just a look this year—it’s a response to Ozempic’s accusations due to weight loss and TO a South Park episode that threw her body positive message in May.

Over the weekend, Lizzo shared a series of photos of her outfit, which she called “LizzOzempic”. The singer dressed in a fake FDA-approved prescription drug box with a label that read “diet suppressant” and included a yellow measuring tape tied around her waist.

One postshe posed in a mock ad for the fake drug, which read: ‘Need some self love? Try Lizzo! Lose guilt, gain confidence.” At the bottom of the ad, the fine print noted that “side effects may include: a smile on your face and a pep in your step.”

In other snaps, Lizzo posed with representations of Eric Cartman from South Parkwhich, in a May episode of the animated series entitled “The End of Obesity”, He was prescribed a drug called ‘Lizzo’ as a cheaper alternative to Ozempic, the type 2 diabetes weight loss drug side effects. The show satirically claimed that the drug Lizzo “makes you feel good about your weight and costs 90% less than Ozempic”, adding: “In case studies, 70% of patients treated with Lizzo did not no matter how much I weigh”.

He poked fun at Lizzo’s trademark message of body positivity (which she recently said she is moving to “body neutrality”) also highlighting the increasing popularity of weight loss drugs.

A few months after the episode aired, Lizzo was accused of taking the real Ozempic to lose weight and denied the claims, which makes her suit even more ironic. She posted her response to the comments on Instagram, writing: “When you finally get Ozempic charges after five months of weight training and a calorie deficit.”

As chronicled on Instagram, Lizzo has been constantly in the gym and has spent the last year working on herself, inside and out. Under a gym from September Selfiesshe reflected on the transformation. “One year ago today I was so broken and dark I couldn’t have imagined feeling the way I do now. This is a message to anyone going through this – don’t let the darkness become you,” she wrote. “Because whatever is done in the dark always comes back to the light.”

It’s safe to say that’s exactly what she does with this Halloween costume: she turns what could have been darkness into light holiday cheer. And to that, we say, Happy Halloween.
