Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz delivered a focused message aimed at rallying young voters in droves as he railed against Vice President Kamala Harris in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on Monday.

In an appearance near the University of Michigan campus just over a week before Election Day, Walz gave a short, pointed speech that boosted his college candidacy.

“Look, her first day — from a prosecutor to a district attorney to the attorney general of California to a United States senator to the vice president — Kamala Harris had that one client: the people,” Walz said.

He also sometimes used his “coach” persona. “Now we’re moving this thing over the next eight days, one inch at a time, one yard at a time, one door at a time, one phone call at a time,” Walz said. knock on the door and one of those interactions — because one or two more votes for the Michigan state precinct will make Kamala Harris the president of the United States.

Walz recognized firsthand the anxiety that young first-time voters can feel during this election cycle.

“Here’s the good news: If you’re feeling any of that anxiety, that nervousness, any of that worry, we’ve got the solution for you. Get out there and vote for Kamala Harris. I know I did it last Wednesday with my son, who voted (for) the first time, and it works,” he told the mostly student crowd.

It was Walz’s first joint rally with Harris since their appearance in Milwaukee, Wis., during the Democratic National Convention in August.
