The Georgian opposition demands repeated elections — parliamentarian – World

TBILISI, October 29. /TASS/. The Georgian opposition demands the organization of repeated parliamentary elections, said parliamentarian Georgy Vashadze, who represents the Unity-National Movement group, at a rally in the country’s capital, Tbilisi.

“Our demand is to organize new elections, but so that they are organized by an international electoral administration,” Vashadze told protesters who demonstrated against the outcome of Saturday’s election.

The opposition also demands the publication of the list of people who voted in the election, as they believe that fewer people actually voted than the number reported by the Central Election Commission of Georgia.

Georgia held parliamentary elections on Saturday, with 18 parties participating, including the ruling party Georgian Dream — Democratic Georgia, which has been in power for 12 years. According to the country’s Central Electoral Commission, the ruling party won 54 percent of the vote, allowing Georgia Dream to form an independent government. All opposition parties refuse to recognize the election results. Unity – National Movement, Coalition for Change and Strong Georgia have announced that they will boycott the new parliament.
