A woman at a gas station attacks another woman with a hatchet

PERKINS Twp., Ohio (WTVG) – It’s a temper tantrum caught on camera. A video recently released by Perkins Township police shows an attack with a hatchet.

That altercation happened last month at the Mobil gas station in the 300 block of West Perkins Ave. of Perkins Twp. The video shows a woman standing at the counter when another woman walks in and pulls a hatchet out of her purse.

The attacker then uses the ax to hit the other woman in the head and neck. In the video, you can see the two falling to the floor in the fight, pushing open the door as an employee walks by and appears to try to break up the fight.

But it doesn’t stop there.

After the attacker left, witnesses told police the woman who was hit reached to pick up the ax from the ground outside. Security video shows a car speeding up and stopping just before hitting her.

The woman who initiated the attack then gets out of the driver’s seat and, according to the police report, picks up a fuzzy sandal that she lost during the struggle.

Perkins Twp. Police arrested Tayjion Butler, who was 30 years old at the time of the attack. She is out of the Erie County Jail on bond, facing two counts of felonious assault, one for the hatchet, the other for the car.

As for the 38-year-old woman who was attacked, police said she was taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Investigators now say the violent encounter was retaliation for a separate incident months earlier in Sandusky.

Court records show Butler pleaded not guilty to the two charges against her. She is set for a preliminary hearing in Sandusky Municipal Court on November 18, 2024.
