Bill Belichick celebrated the Patriots’ win over the Jets with a hilariously mean move

You can’t take New England out of Bill Belichick.

It’s been months since Belichick and the Patriots parted ways, but the eight-time Super Bowl-winning coach has been quietly rooting for his old team — even if he and his successor, Jerod Mayo, have different definitions of the word, “soft.”

Belichick made his usual weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show a day after the Pats’ 25-22 win over the Jets and couldn’t hide his joy at the game’s outcome.

He also apparently couldn’t hide his Patriots game balls from his many wins over the Jets during his 24-season head coaching tenure in Foxboro.

“I saw all the balls behind you, very smart,” McAfee pointed out to Belichick, who joined the show with a backdrop of footballs and awards on his wall. “These are all New England Patriots vs. Jets…”

“Yeah, the one behind me, I think it was the 21st win in a row,” Belichick said with a wry smile. “I had some Jets balls over there on the shelf, so I thought this would be a good time to get them out.”

Belichick continued to bash the Jets for their costly mistakes Ugly loss on Sundaytaking savage jabs at everyone from Jets wide receiver Haason Reddick to owner Woody Johnson.

Both the Patriots and Jets currently hold a 2-6 record and sit at the bottom of the AFC East with their playoff windows all but closed for the season. However, it’s New England that likely has a lot more to be excited about in the coming years, with a promising quarterback in Drake Maye and several other young, potential franchise pieces.

The Jets, who went all-in to secure the likes of Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams for what should have been their Super Bowl season just ended up being a tragic disappointment again. Shocking.
