Fire accident that killed four people in Thornton remains under investigation | News

A fiery crash that killed four people in Thornton Saturday night remains under investigation, according to police.

A Thornton police spokesman told The Denver Gazette Monday afternoon that details of the crash remain unclear. There are no other details about who or what caused the crash. The victims have not yet been identified by the Adams County Coroner’s Office pending family notification and autopsies.

Police said the crash happened around 7:30 p.m. at Thornton Parkway and Washington Street.

The crash left a vehicle on fire. Four people inside the burning vehicle died inside, according to police. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to hospital with serious injuries, police said.

A GoFundMe pageone that appears to have been created by a family member of the four victims was posted on Sunday. The page says a mother and father were killed in the crash along with their 10-year-old and 15-year-old daughters.

The fundraiser, which aims to raise $30,000, has raised nearly $25,000 in just over a day.

“There are only two children left, ages 20 and 22, and now they face a world that has been changed forever,” the GoFundMe page reads. “In the midst of their unimaginable pain, these two young survivors need our help to ensure they are supported during this difficult time.”

Both the Thornton Police Department and the Adams County Coroner’s Office had not confirmed the victim’s identity as of press time Monday.
