Man arrested, another wanted in Prince William County homicide investigation

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Virginia (DC News Now) — The Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD) announced that one man has been arrested and that another man is wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that took place in Woodbridge.

Police said Drew Courtney Buchanan, 27, of Woodbridge, was arrested in Manassas on Oct. 15 in connection with the slaying of Egypt Zapporah Carter, 23, of Burlington, North Carolina.

On Feb. 2, just after 2 a.m., police officers responded to the area of ​​Bronson Court and Brickwood Drive to investigate a shooting. There, they found Carter shot inside a car. He died there.

Police said a small dog was also in the car, but was not injured.

As the investigation developed, detectives learned that a murder had been arranged to kill Carter, according to police. It was also revealed that Buchanan had shot her.

PWCPD said Denzel Scott Wade, 30, was also allegedly with Buchanan at the time of the shooting.

Police have charged Buchanan with second-degree murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Wade is currently wanted by Prince William County police for conspiracy to commit a felony.
