Man leads Iowa officers on chase in van stolen from Lincoln barbecue restaurant, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A man is in custody after he allegedly stole a van from a Lincoln barbecue restaurant and led Iowa police on a chase, authorities said.

Lincoln police reported that a white business van was stolen overnight Friday from the parking lot of the Hog Wild Pit Bar-BQ near 33rd Street and Cornhusker Highway.

The Sioux City Police Department notified Lincoln Police over the weekend that officers recovered the stolen van after a chase with the driver.

The driver, identified as 51-year-old Dennis Hoffman, was arrested and booked into the Woodbury County Jail in Sioux City, Iowa.

He faces charges of eluding — willful failure to report to law enforcement, possession of methamphetamine, driving with a suspended license and theft of a motor vehicle valued at less than $10,000.
