The Grand Island Rifle Club sees an increase in vendors and attendance at its fall gun show

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) – Vendors from across the country converged on Grand Island over the weekend for the annual fall gun show hosted by the Grand Island Rifle Club.

Held Oct. 26-27 at the Pinnacle Expo Center in Fonner Park, the two-day event featured an array of rifles, pistols, food options, Native American tribal attire and Vietnam War memorabilia.

Reggie Schmit, president of the Grand Island Rifle Club, noted an increase in both vendor participation and attendance over previous years.

“Our vendor count is up 15 percent this year and show entry is up a little over last year’s freckle,” Schmit said.

The show provided an economic boost to Grand Island, attracting more than 1,500 attendees.

“The economic value, you know, we bring to the community between the rented motels and obviously over 1,500-1,600 people that come through the door of the show itself,” he explained.

Schmit emphasized the importance of gun displays, saying they give shoppers the opportunity to purchase firearms while promoting gun safety education. He expressed his gratitude to this year’s participants and looks forward to continued growth next year.
