UPDATE:

The suspect in connection with the Leeds Manhunt has been identified as 33-year-old Colton McCoy Tubbs.

He is charged with: Attempt to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer (Murder), Receiving Stolen Property in the First Degree, Theft in the Third Degree, Certain Persons Prohibited from Possessing a Firearm, Drug Trafficking, Criminal Misdemeanor 1st degree and Attempt to elude a law enforcement officer. ). He is currently being held in the St. Louis County Jail. Clair no strings attached.

The incident began Thursday night, Oct. 24, when the Leeds Police Department was alerted to a stolen vehicle in the 8500 block of Whitfield Avenue.

When officers arrived at the scene, they observed Tubbs getting into the driver’s seat of the stolen vehicle and when confronted, Tubbs fled.

During the pursuit, Leeds police say Tubbs crashed into a planted bush and several utility buildings in the Lowe’s parking lot at 8900 Weaver Avenue.

He continued to drive through the parking lot, hitting a security gate with his vehicle and traveling into the back of the building.

Tubbs then attempted to gain access to the Orbis JCB when his car collided with a fence and stalled.

Tubbs then got out of the car and fled the scene on foot and was later found Friday morning, Oct. 25, after a citizen reported him in the 8500 block of Whitfield Avenue.

The subject of a manhunt in Leeds that began on Thursday night is in custody.

The Leeds Police Department provided an update early Friday morning, saying the man is not believed to still be in the area. Later that morning, the police department said the man was arrested.

No further details were immediately provided.

Officers were searching the Clairmont Park neighborhood after they say a male burglary suspect fled into a wooded area after a car chase.

According to Leeds Police Chief Paul Irwin, the man, who is believed to have committed a burglary in Walker County, was driving a stolen vehicle that crashed into a fence behind Lowe’s.

The suspect, described as a male, fled east into nearby woods.
