On Sunday, police said Joseph Parrott, 37, was arrested for attempted sexual assault, burglary and grand larceny.

The investigation began earlier this year when police learned Parrott had broken into several homes in the area of San Juan Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard.

“The suspect’s method of entry was found to be primarily through unsecured entrances into residences,” police said. “Once inside, (Parrott) would intentionally engage the female victims who occupied the residence. . . . Once he made his presence known and was seen by the occupant, (Parrott) left the residence and area on foot.”

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office released images and information about the suspect at the time and asked for the community’s assistance in identifying him. That same day, officers patrolling the area were able to locate him and make contact with Parrott, who then attempted to flee on a bicycle.

Officers then arrested Parrott on charges unrelated to the burglaries and brought him in for questioning.

Because Parrott was being held in a detention facility, detectives continued to investigate his alleged crimes.

“Through their investigative efforts, detectives were eventually able to link 37-year-old Joseph Parrott to the crime and he was re-arrested on multiple counts,” JSO said.

Anyone with more information about the cases is encouraged to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500.
