A man charged after he entered the vehicle, injuring another man

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A man has been charged after he crashed his vehicle into a car and injured another man, according to an affidavit.

Metro Nashville Police responded to the Nob Hill Apartments on Wallace Road on Saturday when Jesserel Joseh Villatoro-Mejia crashed his car into another man’s vehicle. The victim, identified as Jose Mendoza, told police he had been assaulted earlier and ran away, the affidavit states.

Mendoza returned to the scene to check on his friends. When he got out of the vehicle, he saw Villatoro-Mejia walking towards him and intentionally hitting his car.

Mendoza said he was injured when the car door hit him.

Villatoro-Mejia told police he went to find Mendoza because he and his brother had been assaulted earlier in the day.

The affidavit said Villatoro-Mejia told police she saw the victim’s vehicle in the parking lot, saw Mendoza get out and started yelling and waving her hands. That’s when Villatoro-Mejia said he accelerated and tried to hit the car door with his vehicle.

At the scene Saturday, WSMV spoke with a witness who said the incident started when his brother-in-law was trying to go to work and a large party broke out in the parking lot on Wallace Road. He asked the group to quiet down, which started an argument.

The witness also said that at some point during the fight a machete was pulled and a man’s hand was cut. Police told WSMV that one man was taken to the hospital with stab wounds.

Police are still investigating. There is no update on the stabbing victim’s condition.
