Officers rescue a teenager from a traffic situation; woman accused of promoting prostitution

Houston, TX – A teenage girl is recovering this afternoon after investigators say she was trafficked by a young woman.

Kaylyn Redding, 22, is charged with promoting prostitution (minor).

Redding appeared in court Saturday, where a judge reviewed probable cause and set his bond at $50,000.

In a post on X, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez says they were able to locate and rescue the teenager from traffic.

In probable cause court, the teenager claimed she was forced to have sex with men for money.

“Miss. Redding is alleged to be the girlfriend of the plaintiff, the pimp, who is also allegedly in online sexual advertisements with the plaintiff’s face and a phone number belonging to the defendant, Ms. Redding,” the judge said.

In probable cause court, the judge heard details in the case. Court documents show Redding was also arrested for prostitution in June.

“Officers also found three additional sexual advertisements with both the 16-year-old complainant and the defendant with their faces in them. Ms. Redding’s phone number is listed and contact, and Ms. Redding has not claimed that she herself was trafficked,” the judge said.

The judge set bond at $50,000.

The judge added: “Given the facts and the nature of this offence, the nature of this offense requires a high bond to ensure the safety of this prosecuting witness as well as the community.”

The judge ordered Redding to meet specific bond conditions, including surrendering his passport, avoiding drugs and alcohol, not possessing weapons, and cannot have any contact with the victim or anyone under the age of 17. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
