Two dead after shooting in Sarpy County

Police in the Omaha metro area responded to a shooting Monday morning that left two dead.

An official with the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Department told 6 News it started as a “domestic violence issue” involving officers.

Authorities responded to the area of ​​Meadows Parkway and South 143rd Street at approximately 3 a.m.

Monday is the 6th day of the first weather alert

The weather team called 6 weather days of first alert for Monday and Tuesday.

“Light rain has not improved dry vegetation, and as heat and wind return on Monday and Tuesday, fire danger is likely to be very high,” their report said.

Meteorologist Jaret Lansford says Monday will be partly to mostly cloudy and windy with a maximum of 79 degrees.

Lansford reports that wind gusts will be 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Farnam Street will close from Monday

The city of Omaha says that starting Monday, Farnam Street will be closed eastbound from 40th-38th streets.

MUD will install a new gas main under Farnam, according to a statement.

Officials say the project is connected to utility relocations and upgrades before moving forward tram construction.

Eastbound traffic will be detoured one block south on Harney, the city of Omaha says.

Offutt Air Force Base conducts training on Monday

From Monday, Offutt Air Force Base says they will be conducting a “Deployment Readiness Exercise” until Friday.

A statement said the exercise was part of “routine training and preparation activities”.

Offutt warns the public of increased activity on the base with sirens and other loud noises.

“All exercise communications will be preceded by ‘EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE’ to distinguish them from real-world events,” the statement said.

Omaha’s mayor will continue the town hall series on Monday

Mayor Jean Stothert holds the fourth mayoralty in it fall series on monday.

The event will take place at Buffett Middle School at 14101 Larimore Ave.

Omaha residents are encouraged to attend to voice their concerns with city leadership.

The next town hall will be Thursday at Hartman Elementary School, with two more events after that on Nov. 12 and Nov. 18.

All meetings take place between 18:00 and 19:30

The medical marijuana petition process will begin Tuesday
