The group’s request follows the arrest and reported manhandling of Dickson Akoh, the commander Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN). Akoh was reportedly harassed along with other officers, which the coalition says exemplifies escalating abusive practices within the police force.

Coalition leaders condemned the IGP for allegedly ordering Akoh’s arrest over a lease dispute.

Armed officers stormed the Peace Corps headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, barged into Akoh’s office and arrested him and 16 staff members.

The coalition demanded Akoh’s release without fail by Monday, October 28.
