Warriors star Stephen Curry leaves Clippers loss early after rolling ankle (Video)

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry left Sunday night’s 112-104 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers after spraining his ankle.

Curry tweaked his ankle twice in the second half of the contest at the Chase Center in San Francisco. He left the game briefly, but returned to the field a few minutes later and looked perfect. But then, while trying to put up a screen in the corner, Curry rolled his left ankle hard.

Curry immediately jumped in pain and limped straight off the court into the locker room.

The Warriors ejected him minutes later. No details are known about his injury, although he is due to have an MRI on his ankle on Sunday evening. Warriors coach Steve Kerr described the injury as “minor to moderate.”

Curry finished the night with 18 points, six assists and four rebounds. He shot 6-of-11 from the field and 4-of-7 from behind the arc.

The Warriors entered Sunday night’s game with a 2-0 record. They opened the season with a 36-point upset of the Portland Trail Blazers, where Curry was just one rebound short of a triple-double, and then beat the Utah Jazz by 41 points on Friday.

The Clippers led most of the way Sunday night to earn the eight-point victory. James Harden dropped 23 points and 11 assists to lead the team, and Ivica Zubac finished with 23 points and 17 rebounds. Norman Powell also added 20 points. The Clippers are now 2-1 on the year, with their only loss coming in overtime to the Phoenix Suns in the season opener.

Andrew Wiggins led the Warriors with 29 points and Jonathan Kuminga added 12 points and five rebounds. Kevon Looney was the only Warriors player to hit double figures after adding 10 points and 11 rebounds off the bench.

The Warriors will host the New Orleans Pelicans in back-to-back games starting Tuesday night.
