Connecticut 2024 US presidential election: Vote, result information, candidates and everything you need to know

The United States (US) presidential election takes place on November 5. Donald Trump (Republican Party) and Kamala Harris (Democratic Party) are the main contenders in the election.

Millions of eligible voters in the country’s 50 states will choose their preferred candidate to lead the country for the next four years.

A Look at the State of Connecticut

Connecticut’s seven electoral votes have gone to Democratic candidates every four years since 1992, with Republican George HW Bush being the last GOP candidate to win the state, in 1988.

Connecticut is located in the eastern US and lies between the major hubs of New York City (NYC) and Boston along the Northeast Corridor. According to the 2020 census, the state has a population of just over 3.6 million.

Recent polls suggest that among Connecticut voters, the latest polls show Kamala Harris favored over former Donald Trump.

Here are some facts to keep in mind when you register to vote Connecticut:

> Last day of personal registration – October 18

> Last day to register by post – Must be postmarked by October 18th

> Last date for online registration – October 18

How many Senate terms are up for election in the state? Who are the candidates?

How many seats in the House of Representatives are up for election in the state? Who are the candidates?

House elections will also be held on November 5 to elect representatives from all 435 congressional districts.

Connecticut has a total of five congressional districts.

First Congressional District:

The 1st Congressional District is the most Democratic-leaning in the entire state. According to a CT Insider report, the last Republican elected in the district was Edwin May, who served a single term in Congress from 1957 to 1959.

This year, the contest is between Democrat John Larson and Republican Jim Griffin.

Second Congressional District:

Democrat Joe Courtney will face competition from Republican Mike France. In 2018, Courtney beat France by 18 percentage points.

Third congressional district:

Veteran Democratic congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, 81, faces Republican Michael Massey. CT Insider reported that before joining the world of politics, Massey served nearly a decade in federal prison for a bank robbery he committed with another man in 2008. While in prison, Massey says he began follow Trump.

Fourth Congressional District:

Incumbent Democrat Jim Himes faces competition from Republican Michael Goldstein and independent Benjamin Wesley.

Wesley, a political newcomer, is a mechanical engineer who joined politics in hopes of ending the Russia-Ukraine war and the Gaza war.

Fifth Congressional District:

Democrat Jahana Hayes faces another round of battle from Republican George Logan after narrowly defeating him in 2022.

Who won the 2020 presidential election?

Connecticut voted for Joe Biden, who won 59.24% of the vote, while Trump won 39.21% of the vote.
