Traffic officers in Liverpool need cameras to catch abuse

Traffic officers in Liverpool are to be given body-worn cameras to tackle violence they face on duty, a council has said.

Liverpool City Council said civil enforcement officers (CEOs) who issue tickets to drivers often face verbal and physical abuse.

To combat this problem, the council has agreed to purchase 75 body-worn devices, with £150,000 to be spent on the first tranche of devices.

Members of the public could also make allegations of abuse and threats by CEOs, using the footage as evidence, the authority said.
