Sunny and chilly in Philadelphia region, Freeze Watch on the way. Here’s the full forecast.

Another weekend of mostly sunny skies with no chance of rain is upon us.

After a Red Flag Warning On Saturday, winds will die down overnight for parts of New Jersey due to the high fire danger. Expect lows on Sunday to be in the 30s and 40s for most areas.

Sunday will be cool in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees. Even colder air is on the way Sunday night, leading to the first freeze watch for much of the area Monday morning.

Excluded is the I-95 area in and around Philadelphia and Delaware counties. Temperatures can drop below freezing away from the city, so cover all delicate plants. And as always, MAKE SURE THE ANIMALS ARE TOGETHER!

The big question next week may revolve around the Halloween forecast. This may be the first year I remember that there will be no need for jackets over the little one’s suits. It will feel more like summer than the last day of October.

Temperatures are back in the mid-60s for months, and by Thursday (Halloween) highs will be in the 80s and trail a record high of 82 set in 1946.

The NEXT Weather Team forecast is 81 for Thursday.

Beyond that, the lack of rain remains the top weather headline for the region. Much of the area is now in moderate to severe drought, which will likely be elevated to extreme drought for parts of the area next week when the next update arrives.

The lack of rain also has us tracking a 150-year, 29-day dry streak for Philadelphia set in the fall of 1874.

We’ll tie that record on Sunday and set a new 30-day record on Monday. The new record will be broken every day next week with no rain in sight. The only hope is another weak cold front late Thursday night and Friday morning, but like the other fronts, this one will be devoid of moisture.
