LOS ANGELES – A noisy Saturday night at Dodger Stadium took on an ominous tone after the superstar Shohei Ohtani injured his shoulder while sliding into second base on a failed steal attempt in the eighth inning.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after the game that Ohtani suffered a partially dislocated left shoulder during the game and will go for more tests on Sunday.

“We’re pumped,” Roberts said after the Dodgers Win 4-2 in Game 2 of the World Series.

Ohtani stayed on the ground for a few moments and came out with a trainer holding his arm, who dragged him behind him on the ground as he slid to avoid the tag from New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe.

The Dodgers hold a 2-0 series lead as the World Series heads to New York for Game 3 on Monday.

Asked about the possibility of Ohtani missing the rest of the series, Roberts said he hasn’t gotten that far yet, but he “expects (Ohtani) to be there.”

Ohtani, the two-run superstar and the only man in major league history to hit 50 home runs and steals 50 bases it was limited only to the performance of tasks this season and avoided injury. He drew a two-out walk in the bottom of the seventh, but was thrown out by Yankees catcher Austin Wells.
