Four Vietnamese airports to suspend operations as Typhoon Trami approaches

HANOI (Bernama-VNA): Four airports in Vietnam are scheduled to temporarily stop operations due to Typhoon Trami, following a directive from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).

According to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), the CAAV announced the closure of Phu Bai International Airport from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on October 27, Da Nang International Airport from 6:00 a.m. on October 27 to 4:00 a.m. on the 28 October, Dong Hoi Airport from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM on October 27 and Chu Lai Airport from 10:00 AM on October 27 to 10:00 AM on October 28.

Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation has been instructed to ensure safety protocols are in place and issue timely notifications to relevant agencies.

Regional airport authorities have also been tasked with closely monitoring safety measures.

CAAV has requested that any issues arising during the suspension be reported immediately for necessary adjustments.

Trami has claimed more than 100 lives in the Philippines, and the country is bracing for another cyclone and possible return of the storm. More than 4.2 million people were affected there, and initial estimates put damage to agriculture and infrastructure at 291 million pesos ($6.5 million).

Vietnam is still recovering from Super Typhoon Yagi, which hit the country’s northern provinces in September, killing hundreds and causing economic damage estimated at more than $3 billion. – Bernama/VNA
