Several Southwest Airlines flights scheduled to fly to Houston are being diverted to other nearby cities due to an emergency at William P. Hobby Airport.

Flights will land in San Antonio, Austin and New Orleans.

The reason for the redirect appears to be an emergency response to “hot brakes” at Hobby.

KPRC 2 they contacted the airport and provided us with the following statement:

“Around 4:50 p.m. there was an alert II for an aircraft experiencing ‘hot brakes’ which prompted an emergency response at Hobby Airport. This alert was discontinued at approximately 5:10 p.m. During that time there could have been diversions. HOU is in normal operation since the alert was ended. You may wish to contact Southwest Airlines for additional information.”

KPRC 2 has also reached out to Southwest for information. We will update this article when they come back with us.

So far, the following flights have been affected:

WN2999 from Jackson

WN2025 from Indianapolis

WN3795 from LaGuardia

WN1030 from Panama City

WN554 from Denver

WN419 from Phoenix
