Germantown High School incident, report of person with gun ‘not credible’

Germantown Police, Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies and other law enforcement agencies surrounded Germantown High School on Friday evening, October 25th.

The Germantown The police department told FOX6 News there was a report of a person with a gun.

It was later determined that there was no person with a gun and the report was not credible.

Details of the incident

According to the Germantown Police Department, at 6:19 p.m., a 911 call was made to police reporting that an unidentified male subject “wearing all black” entered the high school with a gun.

The Germantown The Washington County Police Department and Sheriff’s Office quickly responded to the high school.

People in the building were either evacuated or took shelter.

Law enforcement swept the entire building as multiple 911 calls came in from people at the high school sheltering in place.

As more information emerged, “the credibility of the report became questionable.”

Officers continued to evacuate staff and students from the school.

The high school was searched by officers and SWAT and a person matching the description was not found and no weapon.

The Germantown The high school campus is safe and secure and we will resume all activities as normal beginning Saturday, October 26.

One person was treated and taken to the hospital for a medical condition due to the stress of the situation, according to the Germantown School District.
