Trump says he doesn’t ‘believe’ in polls, questions how often pollsters ‘interview’ voters

Former President Donald Trump told podcast host Joe Rogan on Friday that he doesn’t “really believe” in polls, questioning how often they “interview” voters.

Trump participated in a three-hour interview on “The Joe Rogan Experience” on Friday, and the appearance came less than two weeks before Election Day. While recent multiple POLLS suggesting that Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are in a close race for the White House, the former president expressed his lack of confidence in the polling data.

Do you know how surveys are done? Oh, I’m going to get in trouble,” Trump said. “So, I really don’t believe in them very much.”

Rogan quickly jumped in to say the 2016 presidential election proved the polls were “ineffective,” referencing former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s lead over Trump in most polls toward the end of that race. Trump agreed that the polls were “very ineffective” that year, pointing to the size of his rallies compared to Clinton’s.

“You know, I have a theory, these pollsters, they’re putting a lot of money on you guys too … and they’re interviewing like 251 people,” the former president said. “I don’t think they interview them in many cases.”

I am a common sense person. I think they probably don’t always poll, some of them probably never poll,” he continued. “I don’t know one person in my entire life who’s ever been called by a poll.”

The New York Times and the Siena College Research Institute released a poll on Friday showing that Trump and Harris each received support from 48 percent of voters surveyed. Investigators polled respondents about various political topics, such as immigration and reproductive rights. The poll found that Trump leads Harris by 11 points in terms of who voters trust more to handle immigration, while the vice president holds a 16-point lead in terms of protecting access to abortion.

Trump and during the interview on Friday memory his first day at the White House in January 2017. He told Rogan the experience was “surreal,” adding that “the love was so crazy” as he and his family drove down Pennsylvania Avenue after his inauguration.
