FEMA is providing door-to-door assistance in Manasota Key

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. (WWSB) – Members of the Federal Emergency Management Agency are spending much of the day Saturday around the Manasota Key helping residents with assistance following damage caused by Hurricane Milton.

FEMA crews went door to door on Manasota Drive, knocking on doors and getting a better understanding of the damage to each property and what resources might be able to help.

After assessing the damage, representatives helped enroll storm victims in FEMA’s emergency response plan to request repair and restoration services and funding.

“It was beautiful, I wasn’t expecting them, but it was great,” said resident Jackie Avedisian, who sustained extensive damage to her home during the active storm season.

For homeowners who are not at their residence, FEMA has left contact fliers at each property with valuable information. FEMA added that homeowners and renters in 34 Florida counties can now apply for disaster assistance.

“I see a lot of devastation, but I don’t see anybody broken, we get a lot of smiles and thanks when we come over to help,” said Todd Bancroft of FEMA.

FEMA officials said if you applied for aid after Hurricanes Debby or Helene and suffered additional damage from Hurricane Milton, you must apply separately.
