Torrance suspect in killing of 16-year-old Long Beach boy arrested in Las Vegas – Daily Breeze

A suspect has been arrested in Las Vegas in the gang-related shooting of a 16-year-old bell boy in Long Beach, authorities said.

The fatal shooting happened Aug. 4 in the 3300 block of 67th Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Officers were dispatched to the scene around 2:40 p.m. that day on multiple reports of a person shot in the street and found the teenager with multiple gunshot wounds to his body.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said he was dropped off in a vehicle by a male relative, exited the vehicle and returned a short time later, followed by a “group of unknown subjects.”

Moments later a shot rang out, striking the boy and the relative’s vehicle. The relative fled the area and immediately called the police. That relative, who suffered a minor upper body injury, was treated at the scene. The group fled the area on foot before officers arrived.

Detectives later identified Torrance resident Ronald Guidry, 41, as the suspect. They obtained a warrant for Guidry’s arrest, and he was arrested on October 17 by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

“Subsequently search warrants were served in the cities of Las Vegas, Moreno Valley, Rialto and Perris where evidence was located and recovered,” according to a statement from Long Beach police. Police said the shooting was gang-related.

Long Beach police are urging anyone with information about the homicide to call them at 562-570-7244. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit crimestoppers.org.
