FEMA relief center opens in Buncombe County

FEMA has opened a new Disaster Recovery Center in Fairview to support people experiencing losses from Tropical Storm Helene.

The new center, located at Cane Creek Pool, opened on October 26. It will serve those in need daily between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Visitors to recovery centers can meet in person with FEMA representatives, apply for assistance, get referrals to local assistance and apply for low-interest disaster loans, among other resources.

Other centers are open in Bakersville, Boone, Brevard, Burnsville, Hendersonville, Lenoir, Marion, Marshall, Sylva, Waynesville, Jefferson, Newland, Old Fort, Sparta, Morganton and Charlotte.

Mobile recovery centers are open in Buncombe County at Swannanoa Fire Rescue’s Bee Tree Fire Station and Buncombe County Sports Park parking lot.
