Pakistan thrashed England: Hussain slams team’s outings on spinning tracks

Former England captain Nasser Hussain criticized Ben Stokes’ England after their 1-2 defeat against Pakistan. England, despite being 1-0 up in the Test match, were toppled by Pakistan after opting to play the rows in the last two Test matches of the series.

Hussain slammed the England team and said the team’s batting unit was exposed after they were stripped of flat tracks. Speaking to Sky Sports, Hussain expressed concern over the qualities of certain batsmen in the Test side, including England captain Ben Stokes.

“Congratulations to Pakistan for making this change, they lost six Tests in a row, the fans and supporters were not happy. Different pitches and selectors and found kryptonite in Bazball. They have top quality spinners and they have players who play Spin really well, England are exposed when the ball spins.

“There should be a discrepancy because the pitches were so different from the first Test to the second and third. There is no doubt that the scores should go down and that those who have been spun should go up. But, the discrepancy from England is a concern. Don’t be so drastic that you play so well on flat pitches and you can hit through the line, but the moment you get caught you can’t play like that and then you’re lost,” he added.

“And three of your top six appear to be lost. I’m talking about (Zak) Crawley when he catches and you have to work him in areas like Saud Shakeel. Or Stokes in Asia, his last ten scores are very low in these conditions he was our best spinner but in these conditions, when he is a bit exciting, he looks a bit lost.” Hussain criticized certain England batsmen after their series defeat against Pakistan.

Pakistan on Saturday ended their long wait to win a Test series at home after beating Ben Stokes’ England 2-1 in the two-match series. Shan Masood can finally breathe a sigh of relief as he now has a series win as captain after initially losing six Test matches in a row since taking over from Babar Azam last year. The last time Pakistan won a Test series at home was in February 2021 against South Africa.

Pakistan defeated the Three Lions by nine wickets in Rawalpindi and bounced back from going 1-0 down with an innings defeat in the series opener. Saud Shakeel, Sajid Khan and Noman Ali have been the architects of the series since joining the XI after Pakistan made a number of changes to their squad, dropping the likes of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Babar Azam and others.

As for England, they completely lost the plot after being asked to bowl on spin-friendly tracks. After losing three early wickets in the second innings of the Rawalpindi Test, they could not recover and were bowled out for 112 in 37.2 overs. Noman and Sajid took 19 wickets in the match and 39 wickets in the series to demolish the visitors.

After taking four wickets in the second innings, Sajid also became the first spinner to take a 10-wicket haul in a Test match at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Noman was also incredible, taking six wickets in the second innings. Joe Root and Harry Brook put together a 46-run stand for the fourth wicket, but other than that, England’s batting was nothing to write home about.
