After an accidental kiss at an office party, I started a steamy affair with a much younger colleague, just like Nicole Kidman in Babygirl.

As someone who exclusively dates older men, I was shocked when, at the age of 34, I fell head over heels in love with Scott*, a colleague ten years my junior. I had no idea that falling in love would lead to a steamy affair that would leave me full of regret years later.

Scott was off-limits—he had a girlfriend, I was dating someone, and I was his boss—but that didn’t stop me from flirting with him every chance I got. He seemed embarrassed when I singled him out for praise and compliments and often blushed, but I kept my charm offensive.

One day I decided to take the flirting up a notch and started wearing push up bras and finding any excuse to lean over his desk. I caught him smiling the first time he saw my cleavage and I felt a tingle of excitement.

An accidental kiss at our Christmas party started our steamy affair. As we said our goodbyes at the end of the night, Scott leaned in to kiss my cheek, but I turned my head and our lips touched.

He did not move away; instead he grabbed my face and kissed me hard. Luckily, no one from our team was around to witness our passionate embrace. I whispered to him: “My seat is free; let’s take a taxi.

He might be younger, but he knew his way around a woman’s body. With his gym-honed body and endless stamina, we spent the whole night making ourselves very happy. I made so much noise that I couldn’t look my neighbors in the eye for weeks afterwards, embarrassed by my screams of passion.

I wondered if Scott would be full of regrets, writing off our date as a drunken mistake. I felt guilty because neither of us were alone, but I wouldn’t trade a single moment of our epic night together.

As everyone reported to work the following Monday, sharing their epic Christmas party hangover stories, Scott innocently asked, “Did you have fun on Friday?” winking at me. I nodded and found my face red.

Scott and I started working late, or at least that’s what we told our partners. I had sex whenever I could, often in my car, in hotels, and even on the boardroom table. It was a purely physical relationship; we never talked about our lives outside of work or our partners.

I knew the affair with Scott would end one day, and when I interviewed for another role six months later, I knew it was time to end things. I had recently ended things with my partner and was looking to make a fresh start somewhere.

I didn’t think about Scott much until 2021 when I had a drink with an old co-worker. As we reminisced about old times, she said, “Remember hottie Scott? He was so restless when you flirted with him. He didn’t know what to do with himself!

I laughed awkwardly and said, “I wasn’t that bad, was I? It was just a bit of fun. Then my friend said something that gave me chills: “You were his boss; Maybe he thought that if he told you to stop flirting, you’d fire him.

I can’t believe the thought hadn’t crossed my mind before – the unequal power dynamic and the fact that it initially seemed resilient when I came upon it. He agreed with everything after that first kiss, but what about the forerunner? We live in a post-Me Too world and I suddenly felt like a predator.

I texted Scott that night for the first time in five years, feeling embarrassed about opening a potentially difficult conversation. I didn’t even know if he still had the same number, but ten minutes after I texted, “Hey, long time no see! Are you free for a quick chat? I saw his number flash on my screen.

Once I got the pleasures out of the way, I got to my point: “I’m calling you because… um… I forced you to have sex with me?

Silence. Then a howl of laughter. “No, ma’am, you didn’t force me to do anything.”

“But I heard I made you uncomfortable,” I replied.

“Well, yeah, it was weird for your boss to tell you that you have nice arms when you’re doing it at work, but I just told people that I’m uncomfortable because I have a girlfriend and I didn’t mean to. let them think I’m a bastard.

I felt a relief wash over me as we chatted briefly. I was lucky that Scott was happy with what happened between us, but it made me reflect on other workplace flirtations that might have made others uneasy.

I always felt that Scott was a willing participant, but maybe I was so blinded by lust that I didn’t stop to consider that I had power over him as a boss. It’s definitely made me wary of any workplace flirting in the future, although since I work from home now, the only person I can harass is me!

“I’ve always been treated as the underdog in every relationship I’ve ever been in… being his boss felt like an intoxicating aphrodisiac”

As told to Raj Gill

It wasn’t until she reached her 60s that Naomi realized she might be considered a sexual predator. What is it with folk these days and their desperate need to put a label on everything. Up until this point, she had happily carried on her extramarital affairs without consequence or guilty conscience.

Her only golden rule was “not on her doorstep,” and so she got through these minor indiscretions without getting caught. That all changed when her company assigned her a full-time driver.

He was very young, handsome, and charismatic, and he understood her in ways her husband never could. And she was his boss, that felt like an intoxicating aphrodisiac, one he couldn’t and chose not to ignore. She spent more time with Aidan than she did with her husband David, so it was kind of inevitable.

Even though Naomi was in her 60s when the affair began, she still looked like she was in her 40s, on the odd occasion she met Aidan in public, they weren’t looked at the way he was when he was with her. husband who was 20 years older.

She had fallen in love with a rich, older guy, which made her more and more determined to climb the ranks of the pharmaceutical company, to which she devoted every working hour.

She knew the moment she laid eyes on him that he would end up in her bed. His first task was to pick her up from the airport and take her to a meeting of council members, her flight was massively delayed.

She had planned to go straight to the hotel, change into her travel clothes, freshen up, and then offer her proposal, best laid plans and all. She had to change in a hurry in the back of the car, and although she had instructed Aidan to keep his eyes on the road, she caught him sneaking a few glances, which endeared her to him.

The date was a huge success and Naomi was in the mood to celebrate, first stop was at the hotel, Aidan accompanied her to her suite with her luggage. Upon arrival, she asked him to open the champagne that was cooling in the bucket and pour two glasses. And that was the beginning of the adventure.

Such an easy going adventure because why in a million years would anyone think that Naomi who was married to a handsome successful man would feel the need to wander off and if she felt the urge she would really choose someone on the payroll?

Only now has Naomi realized that her situation is not unique and may be more common than she imagined. The premise of Babygirl struck a cord, she could be seen as the main character, Nicole Kidman. It made her question her behavior; however, the moment she laid eyes on Aidan again, she couldn’t help it.

This led her to analyze the relationship and she realized that the dynamic of her being the one holding all the power was a key part of the affair’s longevity.

She was in control, every aspect of the relationship was on her terms, she could end it whenever she wanted, she owed nothing to Aidan, owed him nothing, and expected nothing in return. He was the perfect playmate, never asking for anything, never complaining, never questioning his role in her life, never trying to “put her in her place” like men had all her life.

They saw it; he saw that she was very attractive and immediately made assumptions, usually wrong assumptions, undermining her and her abilities.

Aidan was the complete opposite, he opened her eyes to the fact that men could be different, how much of that was due to him being employed she wasn’t sure. How different would things be if they had just met on the dating scene? No, she shuddered at the thought. He liked things the way they were. She picked and chose when she wanted to be with him and he played along.

She didn’t know it was possible to have a relationship like this. She had always been treated as helpless in every relationship she had ever had. It was new, exciting, and she’s not willing to give up.

She rarely thinks about what the consequences would be if she were caught. But she never thought too much about it because the thought of losing her children was too great, but not enough to give up on Aidan. She even imagined scenarios of what it would be like if her husband had intervened in them, and to be honest, she decided she was at that stage in her life where she would put her hand up and own up to what she had done.

Naomi is very excited to see the film when it hits the big screen next year, wondering how many parallels it will have with her own life.
