Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs and R&B singer Aaron Hall allegedly took turns sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in a Bergen County apartment in 1990 because Jodeci Swing member DeVanté did nothing to stop her , according to a recently amended lawsuit filed in New Jersey federal court.

Liza Gardner is seeking more than $10 million in financial, physical and mental damages in the New Jersey District Court case against Bad Boys Records founder Hall and Swing, who was added as a co-defendant on October 8, and their record labels. Gardner claims she was lured into a sex-trafficking scheme in which she and her 15-year-old boyfriend were drugged and taken to Hall’s Englewood home, where Gardner was raped. The next day, she was assaulted and choked by Combs until she passed out, according to the charges.

The explosive lawsuit, which was originally filed in a New York district court in 2023 before being reinstated and amended in New Jersey earlier this month, is one of a growing wave of legal problems for the elderly Combs 54, who is known as ‘Diddy’ or his former stage name ‘Puff Daddy’.

The rapper involved now faces more than a dozen civil lawsuits accusing him of sexual assault and rape, with five new accusers have come forward in the past week with claims from 2000 to 2022. The most recent include a woman who claims she was 13 when she was assaulted by Combs, 30, at an after-party at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards, and a trainer celebrity personal accusing Combs of sexually assaulting her during a 2022 awards party.

The weekly lawsuits filed against Combs appear to be just the tip of the iceberg. Earlier this month, during a press conference, Texas attorney Tony Buzbee said he was preparing processes from 120 people alleging sexual abuse and sexual assault. And those are just Buzbee’s customers; Tyrone Blackburn, a Brooklyn attorney, is representing Gardner in her legal case.

Combs’ legal troubles follow his own The arrest in September and referral to court for sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution charges. The rapper, who has maintained his innocence throughout all legal cases and proceedings, is in custody at a Brooklyn Detention Center after being denied bail.

The criminal charges and lawsuits against Combs come nearly a year after the rapper’s ex-girlfriend and R&B singer Casandra Ventura, known professionally as Cassie, accused Combs of rapesex trafficking and physical abuse. Combs and Ventura settled for an undisclosed amount a day after filing — though her desire to step forward led to a plethora of other lawsuits.

Yonatan Jacobs, who is listed as Combs’ attorney in the Gardner case, did not immediately respond to a request for comment, with a message indicating he was out of the office as of Oct. 25. Attorneys for Sher Tremonte and Jacobs colleagues Michael Tremonte and Anna Estevao, each tied to Combs in other legal cases, did not immediately respond to requests.

However, Combs’ legal team has repeatedly shared the same response with USA TODAY regarding the lawsuits against him, saying they have confidence in the facts, their legal defenses and the integrity of the judicial process.

“In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone – adult or minor, male or female.”

Hall, who lives in Ohio, and Swing, of North Carolina, were served with the amended suit on Oct. 23, and their respective attorneys have yet to enter an appearance, according to court records.

The Englewood apartment is where Sean “Diddy” Combs allegedly raped a 16-year-old.

Combs was known for hosting lavish, star-studded parties that investigators say led to sexual antics or performances that he allegedly staged and recorded to “fulfill sexual desires.”

In the late summer/early fall of 1990, Gardner said she was invited to New Jersey from her home in North Carolina by her friends Swing and Dalvin DeGrate, who are brothers, as well as fellow (and sibling) Jodeci K-Ci and JoJo. . The quartet was signed to Uptown Records and produced by Combs and had a house in New Jersey paid for by their label.

After attending a music industry event in New York City and dinner with Jodeci, Combs and Hall, where Gardner said she and her friend were given alcohol and marijuana, the girls were brought to Hall’s Englewood apartment, it is shown in the process. At the time Hall was part of the R&B group Guy, which had success in the late 1980s.

After being offered more alcohol, Gardner said she was physically forced to have sex with Combs. Gardner didn’t know it at the time, but Swing was in the room when the assault occurred “and took no action to prevent the abuse from occurring,” according to the newly amended filing. Swing has been called Gardner’s “presumed co-guardian” since he was 21, just a few months older than Combs at the time. He is accused of “aiding and abetting” her sexual assault by treating her rape as a “live pornographic film”.

Gardner said that after Combs finished, she was left “shocked and traumatized” and while she was in the process of getting dressed, Hall “came into the room, locked her in” and forced her to have sex, it shows in the suit. Another friend later told Gardner that she also had sex with Combs and Hall and that the men were “switching” rooms between the girls, the suit states.

The next day, Combs allegedly went to the New Jersey home where Gardner was staying and became enraged, assaulted and choked Gardner until she was unconscious, the lawsuit alleges. Combs allegedly looked for her friend, who she feared would report the previous night’s attack, and asked Gardner where she was. When Gardner said she wasn’t sure, Combs strangled her, the lawsuit states, citing an affidavit written by a friend of Gardner’s.

The suit includes a photo of Gardner, Hall and her friend, whose face is blurred, on the day of the alleged incident, and also pulls videos from interviews Hall has done over the years, including one with VladTV where she appears to admit Jodeci and “Puffy” saw him having sex.

A therapist said Gardner, whom she was treating in 2014, disclosed the alleged rapes to her and cited in her notes that she believed Gardner was experiencing symptoms of anxiety, hypervigilance, panic attacks and depression, all symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. -traumatic. The suit alleges a plethora of physical and mental ailments, from bodily pain, psychological trauma to diminished enjoyment in life.
