2 shot near DC elementary school, police investigate

A 16-year-old boy is dead after a shooting in Woodland’s Ward 8 neighborhood Friday afternoon, according to D.C. police.

A man was also transported to the hospital in unknown condition.

Police said they responded to the 2700 block of Langston Place, SE to reports of shots fired when they were approached by a man who had been shot. While rendering aid to the man, police heard additional gunshots and found a 16-year-old who had been shot a block away at 2800 Langston Place, SE.

Both victims were taken to hospital and despite life-saving measures, police said the 16-year-old succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect was last seen running on foot, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with white writing on the back and armed with a gun, police said.

The following roads have been closed in the area due to an active investigation: 2700-2800 blocks of Langston Pl SE between Reynolds Place and Ainger Place, SE.
