Chicago train crash: At least 1 injured after CTA train crashes into forklift at Western Brown Line station on North Side CFD

CHICAGO (WLS) — At least one person was taken to the hospital after a CTA train collided with a forklift Friday afternoon on the city’s north side.

The crash happened near the Western Brown Line station, officials said.

A CTA Brown Line train collided with a forklift at the location, Chicago Fire Department officials said. The cause of the accident was not immediately known.

A female patient was taken to a local hospital following the accident, CFD said.

The CTA issued the following statement about the incident:

“According to preliminary information, a train traveling at low speed through a slow zone at the Western Brown Line station struck the corner of an elevator positioned on the platform adjacent to the tracks. A contractor reported a knee injury. . The employees involved in this incident will be subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with our policies as part of our investigation into this incident.”

Brown Line trains were halted at West Station due to a “track condition,” CTA officials said. Since then, trains have started running again with delays.
