Pelham, NH police are identifying a suspected hit-and-run driver who left a woman seriously injured

PELHAM, NH — Police say they have identified the driver involved in a hit-and-run Tuesday morning that left a pedestrian with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

“Members of the Pelham Police Department have worked extremely hard over the past two days to follow up on every lead provided by the public,” police said in a statement issued Friday. “With the cooperation of many people, the van in question has been located and we have identified the driver.”

The victim, a 53-year-old Pelham woman, remains hospitalized at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington.

While the identity of the driver was not released and no charges were announced Friday, police said the case remains “a top priority” and is being actively investigated. Police also thanked everyone who provided tips, adding that without that assistance, “the case would not have progressed as quickly as it did.”

First responders were first called to a motor vehicle accident on Mammoth Road near George M. Muldoon Park shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday. Upon arrival, they found the victim sitting on the north shoulder of Mammoth Road with “significant injuries,” police said.

The vehicle involved left the scene before first responders arrived.

When initially asking the public for help in finding the driver, police said they did not have a description of the vehicle, but noted there should be damage to the front passenger mirror or front passenger corner.

On Friday, police urged anyone with additional first-hand information about the incident to contact Cpl. James Locke at 603-635-2411 or [email protected].
