Hello, back to Y2K.

Looks like high-low dresses are back, that is Selena Gomez has something to say about it. The controversial outfit — which has essentially been a ghost of homecomings, proms and 16s since the early 2000s — made its way onto the red carpet last night, with the multi-silapha championing it. While she pulled the trend straight off the bat, she made sure to give it a modern twist and her usual flair.

The Emilia Perez The star made a sizzling arrival at the second annual Rare Impact Fund benefit in Los Angeles in a black dress that was anything but typical. Her dress featured a one-shoulder design, a fitted bodice, draped detailing throughout, a figure-hugging mini skirt and a second, side-swept skirt that trailed behind her. The train was long in the back and short in the front—a weird, divisive detail that dominated Y2K fashion. She let the dress do most of the talking, teaming it with black, shiny, pointed-toe stilettos with an asymmetrical belt and two diamond-encrusted rings.

On the beauty front, the “Calm Down” singer went for soft glam, complete with rosy cheeks, winged eyeliner and a natural pink lip. She styled her auburn bob in loose waves with a middle part.

The Rare Beauty founder’s last red carpet was full of LBDs. Earlier this week, she stepped out at the Los Angeles premiere Emilia Perez in a timeless version of the clothing classic. Next, her gown featured a voluminous, off-the-shoulder construction, criss-cross bodice, sweeping train, and leather opera gloves. Before then, she attended the BAFTA preview of her new film in a black midi dress that featured structured, cut-out straps, a plunging V-neckline and a pleated skirt.
